Our Before / After Home Tour 2015

Before/ After Home Tour

Last year when we were away at the beach I started to write my first post about moving to our house.  Well, we are back at the beach and it’s hard to believe another year has gone by. Welcome to our before/ after home tour!  Two years ago we fell in love with this old farmhouse with big rooms, lots of fireplaces, and a big yard down the end of a long lane (aka our driveway :). We have been slowly remodeling every inch of this house since and it’s amazing to think about how much we have accomplished already since we moved in. Warning: Most of my before pictures were taken right after we moved in and look very messy:).

Our Front

Here’s what the front of our old farmhouse looked like soon after we moved in.

Here’s what it looks like now, with a new window added to the front and some new landscaping. We also painted and added grids to most of the windows.

Our Foyer /Entryway

When we moved in our foyer had broken bi-fold doors in the closet and taupe trim.

Our Entryway/ FoyerWe painted all the trim white, changed the doors from bi-fold to hinged, changed out the door hardware to oil rubbed bronze and added an old door coat rack to help coral some coats and bags.

Our Powder Room:

This room looked pretty dingy with tan paint and a wallpaper border (already taken sown before this pic), red laminate counter tops and brass knobs.

Powder Room Reveal Part I

We painted the trim and cabinets white, made a fabric shade, changed out the hardware, added a DIY wood counter top and put in a new sink and faucet. To see how we did it, click here.

Our Living Room:

The fireplace wall and all the trim was dark green and all the recessed lights were black. The room felt very dark.

We painted all the trim white and the walls a cool white tan and spray painted the recessed lights white. We added a large bookcase to the one wall that we found on the side of the road.

Our Family Room:

The fireplace and the trim was painted red also making the room very dark.

We kept the red on the doors and window but painted the fireplace and some of the trim white. I added a gallery wall to make it feel more like our home.

Our Dining Room:

I am not sure why I only have a picture with laundry in it but this room had some ugly wallpaper in it.

This room was majorly updated with some bold paint.

I absolutely love decorating our farmhouse table Jason refinished. Below is our table from Christmas last year.

Our Kitchen:

We have big plans for the kitchen and haven’t done too much yet, just added some new appliances, a new kitchen faucet, and a new pantry.

Tucker’s Room was the original master bedroom closet. We completely transformed this room. Built in bunk beds, a new window, window seat and bookcases and a pallet barn door.

Pink wall paint, white trim and a newly redone four poster bed really changed this little girl’s room.

Outside

Since moving in we fenced in our whole yard to keep our kids and dog safe from the road. In the front we added a privacy fence.

We took down a ton of trees to open up the center of the yard for lawn games and grass.

Added a mailbox to store our garden tools and planted a ton of trees, shrubs, and flowers.

And added a stone patio fire pit and wooden beam benches.

Our dream for this house is…to pull in the driveway and have life outside stop, a home where our kids have the freedom to kick off their shoes and just run and play and get dirty. Or, in my boys case, go missing outside with a good book in their hands:). We want our house to feel open to our friends and family to come by anytime and just hang out and relax. So if this is your first time here, welcome to Lehman lane…the process might be a little ugly, messy, and crazy along the way but we can’t wait to show you all what we envision for it. And in the end we know that our house will turn into our home:)!  Please know that I read and appreciate all of your comments and would love to hear from you!
