DIY Elegant Farmhouse Master Bathroom Shower Tile & Floor Ideas

Sharing all the tips & tricks we used to create an elegant luxury master bathroom with the best master bathroom shower tile & floor combination ideas using Carrara marble, white subway tile with a marble accent wall & large Black veined marble look floor tile with grey grout & pictures!

Master Bathroom Shower Tile& Floor Ideas

While we veered a bit from our original master bathroom shower tile ideas (see the plan here) in the end I could not be happier with how our farmhouse master bathroom turned out!!!

Master Bathroom Main Floor Tile

The original plan for our master bathroom floors was to add the small white hexagon tile we added to our boys bathroom. (see those floors here)

After talking to family & friends about our tile selections we became concerned that our bathroom might look too much like hospital or institutional bathroom.

We decided to add a large black noir Black veined 12-in x 24-in glazed porcelain marble stone look floor tile on the floors that we found in stock at our local Lowes. (find it here)

We laid the tile on top of cement board & 3/4inch plywood on the master bathroom floors.

The color really looks more dark grey than black to me & the color variation of the porcelain tile ties in perfectly with the other master bathroom shower tile we chose.

The large tile we chose was quick & easy for Jason to install & the dark color would hide all the dirt that naturally follows it’s way into the bathroom.

And because we chose a large inexpensive porcelain tile for the main master bathroom floor tile we were able to keep our budget down & it gave us the ability to splurge a little on a marble accent wall for the master bathroom shower tile I talk about below.

Master Bathroom Grout Color

We chose the same #19 Pearl Grey Grout Color from Lowes for our entire Master Bathroom both for the master bathroom shower tile & accent wall as well as the master bathroom floor tile. (find it here)

We used the premium grout because it’s easier to work with & does not require you to seal it after it dries.

Waterproofing our Master Bathroom Shower Tile Walls & Floor

We added cement board to our master bathroom shower walls & floor first after building our shower walls.

Next, we the Schluter KERDI Board Shower Kit & System before adding our Master Bathroom Shower Tile.

We used this in our previous master bathroom (see it here) as well as the boys bathroom and it has done a fantastic job waterproofing our bathrooms & stopping any leaks.

Marble Mosaic Shower Floor Tile

For our master bathroom shower tile floor, we added a beautiful Carrara marble mosaic from Floor & Decor.

We love the look of Carrara marble & how the grey & in the marble tile ties in with the large tile we added to the main floor of the bathroom as well as the white subway tile for the master bathroom shower tile walls.

It’s always a good idea to use small tiles for a master bathroom shower tile floor so it slopes down to the shower drain.

White Subway Tile with Marble Accent Wall in the Master Bathroom Shower Tile

In our Master Bathroom Shower, We chose the same classic white subway we added to the boys bathroom (see it here)

We found the inexpensive white subway tile at Lowes. (find it here)

Although, rather than add white grout to the master bathroom shower tile walls we chose the Pearl Grey grout we used for the entire master bathroom floor.

I am not going to lie, it takes FOREVER to install 3 X 6 inch white subway tiles!

But the white subway tile gives our century old farmhouse a timeless & classic look that I very much doubt we will ever want to change!

Why Add a Master Bathroom Shower Tile Accent Wall?

To save time on the tile install & break up the monotony of an all white shower tile wall we added these BEAUTIFUL Carrara mosaic tiles to the master bathroom shower tile wall & bathroom shelf insert.

A shower accent wall saves money because you do not need as much of the expensive tile & it adds interest add character to the master bathroom shower.

When our kids saw our shower tile accent wall, they talked about how it looked like we hung a picture in the bathroom.

They were right, it really is a work of art!!!

The Carrara marble mosaic & marble chair rail are both from Lowes.

We added the same marble mosaic to our master bathroom shower tile built in shelf niche to hold our soaps & shampoos.

Carrara Marble for the Master Bathroom Shower Seat, Step & Doorway

For the master bathroom shower Seat we added a solid piece of Carrara marble for Floor & Decor. (find it here)

The marble seat is the perfect depth & height to sit on.

We used to same 6 X 74 inch Carrara marble tile curb from Floor & Decor (see it here) to cover the master bathroom shower tile curb step & walls surrounding our glass shower door.

We are in OBSESSED with how our master bathroom shower tile turned out!
