The day is here, our back patio makeover is finally DONE!!! We started this backyard project a little over a year ago now and there were times I didn’t think we would ever finish but thankfully we did and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Here is a pic of what our backyard patio looked like just one year ago… (read about how we took down the deck HERE)
Below is a reminder of what we have done so far…
Our Plan for our Backyard Patio
Demo Deck ( see that here) Save Brick from Previous Patio Dig an 8 foot by 8 foot space for our Hot Tub Build a retaining wall around the sunken patio (see that here) Move the Hot Tub with 2 People!!! (see that here) Level the Ground inside the Patio Use Reclaimed Brick and Create a Brick Patio (see that here) Use Reclaimed Flagstone/ Bluestone for walkway in front of Sliding Doors (see that here) Landscape around Sunken Patio (see that here) Build an Arbor for the Entrance to the Patio (see that here) Spray Paint Red & Fix Broken Screen Doors Refresh a Vintage Patio Set (see that here) Bring the Outdoor Furniture Back Decorate
I am going to let the pictures speak for themselves rather than writing too much about it. As you saw from the before pic we had our work cut out for us!!!
We have tried to spend every second that we can enjoying this new backyard patio. Whether drinking a glass of wine or cup of coffee, having an alfresco dinner with friends and family, reading and looking through gardening and design books and magazines or spending time in our hot tub and enjoying s’mores from our new fire pit.
In total this project cost us less than $1500 for supplies which is not inexpensive. However, without all the blood, sweat and tears we put into this outdoor DIY project it would have cost A WHOLE LOT MORE.
As per usual we still want to do a few more things like our fix our rundown garden shed but for now we are determined to RELAX and enjoy this new back patio makeover :).
Thanks so much for taking the time to check out our backyard patio makeover! I hope this inspires you to make a special backyard spot of your own!
