If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time you may have figured out how much I like wreaths.
I am back today to share our new pallet wreath.
For a while now, I have been wanting to make a wreath for our living room that would look great year round and that I could change out seasonally.
Every time I mention wanting to make something Jason always says I should make it with pallets.
My husband loves pallets… he brakes for pallets, ha!
So we made one.
We like to collect pallets so to make this wreath we used supplies on hand & it was free.
Supplies & Tools to Make a Pallet Wreath
- Pallet Wood
- 1/4 inch MDF sheet
- Jigsaw
- Orbital Sander
- Liquid Nails or strong construction glue
- 1/2 inch screws
- metal picture hanger
Instructions for How To Make a Pallet Wreath Step by Step
Step ONE – Take Apart your Pallet Wood
We cut & pried the boards from the pallet. Some boards come off the pallet easier than others.
To see my 6 Tips to Take Apart a Pallet (go HERE)
Step TWO – Cut the Pallet Wood to Length & Sand Smooth
We cut the boards down to lengths that would work for our size wreath, laid the boards next to each other & sanded them down.
Step THREE – Trace your Pallet Wreath Base
I traced & 2 circles on the MDF to create a base to secure the pallet wood to.
I used an 18″ metal wreath form for the outside diameter & a 7″ inch plate for the inside.
Step FOUR – Cut out your Pallet Wreath Base
Using a jigsaw we cut the circle out & glued it the pallet wood.
Step FIVE – Secure the Pallet Wood to the Pallet Wreath
To make the wreath even more secure we screwed the MDF to the pallet wood.
Step SIX – Cut out Your Pallet Wreath
Using the jigsaw again we cut out the pallet wood.
Step SEVEN – Add a Picture Hanger to the Back of your Pallet Wreath
I nailed a picture hanger to the back of the pallet wreath.
I love the character the pallet wreath gives our living room fireplace & that I can keep it out all year round!
I love decorating it for every holiday & season that comes along!
Decorating our Pallet Wreath for Every Season & Holiday
To give the wreath a little Valentine flair I added a clay heart. (find out how to make one HERE) I plan on changing out the heart for something more springy soon.
A small bunch of wheat to give it a little fall flair for an autumn mantel.
A plaid embroidery hoop ornament looks great for our pallet Christmas wreath.
And it looks great in the summertime too.
I hope this inspires you & answers all your questions about how to make a pallet wreath for your own home!
