We have been making lots of changes to master bedroom/ master bathroom lately & with all 4 kids virtually schooling & Jason & I working from home it was so important to add some much needed office space our master bedroom.

How to Create a Master Bedroom with Desk & Small Office Space

We recently added a sitting area to our master bedroom for a much needed quiet spot for Jason & I away from the kids after a long day!
However, we soon realized with the kids home schooling that we needed an extra desk in this house so everyone could spread out when they needed to be online either for school or for work.

Since our master bedroom tends to be the quietest spot in our farmhouse it made sense to carve out a little spot for a small office space.
We created a small office nook to our master bedroom with desk & a desk chair in the corner next to our new sitting area.

Our Master Bedroom with Desk Area
After having 3 previous desk orders cancelled from Wayfair, we were so lucky to find this one at World Market.
The price was right in our budget too.

It is STURDY & the perfect writing desk for a farmhouse master bedroom!
We love the size & distressed oak detail of the desk & the 2 drawers are great for all the office storage we will ever need!

Our newly refreshed master bedroom with desk fits perfectly in the corner next to the window that looks onto our backyard patio.
Master Bedroom with Desk Chair
We found our slipcovered rolling wingback desk chair from RH teen on sale.

I love that the slipcover is washable & the desk chair fits perfectly under our new master bedroom writing desk.
The desk chair has wheels so it can easily be moved around our master bedroom.
And bonus… it is really comfy too!
Master Bedroom with Desk /Office Combo Farmhouse Decor
I added a few farmhouse decor touches to the top of our master bedroom desk like lamp, pencil basket, & houseplant under a pretty cloche.
Above our desk, I added a shadowbox corkboard with an inspiring verse a sweet friend gave me last year along with this fabulous printable from Lindsey Letters co.

This verse & quotes definitely inspire me when I am working during the day.
We originally talked about this being Jason’s desk & small office space but I find myself sitting here more, ha!
I am sure he will still take advantage of our new master bedroom with desk office space on rainy days when the kids need to let out some energy in his normal office space HERE.

To be honest, I fought the idea of having a master bedroom with desk & office space.
So many people talk about not spending all day & night in the same space.
We have only had this new office space in our master bedroom for 2 weeks now but our plan is to only spend a few hours in here working.
With our kids still little, I spend a lot of time working from our kitchen table anyway. 🙂
It is REALLY nice to have a designated spot to spent a last minute email that is not in bed!

If you have been thinking about creating a master bedroom with & office space in your home, I hope ours gives you a few ideas to get you started!
