Happy Christmas Eve Eve Eve :). Before all the Christmas wrapping, teddy bear bread making, and holiday punch drinking was over I wanted to share our family room Christmas tour and talk a little bit about all the Christmas tree craziness at our farmhouse this year.
Family Room Christmas Tour

For the last few years, I have started thinking about getting an artificial Christmas tree.
I loved the idea of putting it up during the day while the kids were at school and surprising them when they got of the bus.
There would be no needles to vaccuum up, no tree to water and best of all no help needed to string the lights.
So, I ordered one.
And… put it up while the kiddos were at school.
Until, my high schooler came home and I surprised him.
Well, he took one look at my fake tree and announced that I was taking part of his Christmas joy away with my new purchase?
And… didn’t I remember how excited our house gets when we go out and get a Christmas tree together.
Apparently, live Christmas trees bring Christmas joy… who knew :).
I tried to remind him that we went to Lowes last year for our tree but he wouldn’t listen.
Three more kids came home unimpressed and disappointed by my fake tree so back in the box it went.
We all drove together to Lowes to buy this year’s new Christmas tree singing Christmas music the whole way :).
A giant eight foot tall Fraiser fir that we had to cut off a foot in order to get it stand up in our family room. Ha!
Somewhere in the craziness of trying to simplify Christmas decorating for me, I had forgotten about the joy picking out and decorating a tree was for them. Phew, Christmas joy is back again at the Lehman House :).
All kidding aside… the true joy at Christmas for our family comes from the incredible gift of Jesus’s birth.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
I wish you all joy and peace this Christmas! Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
