Sharing all the details of how I gave our powder room an easy refresh or DIY makeover with pops of green for just $1.
Some mornings I wake up with this crazy need to update or redecorate a room.
I know that if I hold off and say do something productive… like laundry I just will go crazy until I tackle the room.
This happened to me Tuesday morning with our Powder Room.
I gave our half bathroom a quick & cheap refresh in just a few hours for less than $1.

Powder Room Refresh – with Pops of Green

A while back I had taken down the balloon shade in our powder room because the pattern & colors of the shade we no longer my taste & just made me unhappy.
I also wanted more natural light to brighten our small bathroom.
If you are curious what our previous curtain looked like you can see that here.

Well… ever since I took it down Jason has been on my case to get a new shade for the powder room because he was concerned that guests would want a little more privacy.
Hmmm…
Adding a Balloon Shade to the Powder Room Window

I wasn’t convinced that there were people lining up outside of the window waiting to catch an unsuspecting person from using our restroom but I was willing to bring back a window covering since he was pretty adamant about it.
Using a green toile fabric I had bought over 16 years ago (fabric hoarder alert) I made a new balloon shade for it.

The lighter fabric definitely brightens up our half bath with giving some need privacy which is important to my husband.

Because of the green in the fabric of the window shade I wanted to bring more pops of green into our powder room.
Painting the Powder Room Mirror Green
The first thing I did was make a run to AC Moore for some green paint.

I took down the old bulky mirror that was hanging over our sink and decided to replace it with a smaller mirror that was formally in our boys bathroom.
I painted the small oval mirror a vintage looking minty green.

For 88 cents this bayberry acrylic paint was definitely a steal!

Shopping your House for Bathroom Decor
I shopped the house for the rest of the accessories in our powder room.

An evergreen kitchen towel, green McCoy flower pots, a vintage green mason jar…

some fresh hydrangeas from our yard, a green lantern & a even boxwood wreath from Balsam Hill.

I really had no idea how many green things I had until I started looking for them. 🙂
It’s official, I must like the color green!

I still love the wooden countertops we added a few years back to our powder room & added a vintage box to hold all those important bathroom necessities like tissues & toilet paper.

I also a few vintage books & magazines to our half bathroom.

For some strange reason this seems to be the most popular restroom in our home & I have no idea way?!!!
I figure if they are going to spend so much time in there they might as well be reading, ha!

Because it’s Fall, our powder room refresh wouldn’t be complete with a white pumpkin!

I am pretty excited about how our powder room turned out & for less than a dollar it was totally worth it.
Watch out, I already have my sights on the next room I want to redecorate & renovate.
I hope this inspires you to give your powder room a makeover if you have been thinking about it!
