We have been hard at work on the exterior curb appeal of our farmhouse with a new roof, siding & a new gorgeous farmhouse front door.
Source List for our Farmhouse Front Door
- Farmhouse Front Door with Glass (Pella Special order 3/4 light with smooth finish & window grids, similar to this one ordered from Lowes)
- Front Door Handle Set In Venetian Bronze
- 2 Seeded Glass Outdoor Wall Lanterns
Farmhouse Front Door Before
The front door of our farmhouse before was a solid wood door with a large transom window to the left of it.
While there was nothing major wrong with the actual wood front door, we really wanted a new door that we could see through.
Jason took out the old solid wood door with brass trim.
Our previous front door was a bit drafty & had been painted many times & replaced it with our new gorgeous farmhouse front door.

We also knew that we wanted to take out the window to the right of the door as we didn’t feel like it kept with the character of our farmhouse & we knew we wanted to update the lighting.
Later, we found out that the window was unfortunately made of plexiglass & was NOT double paned glass.

Yikes, we are still shaking our head about that….
Size of our Farmhouse Front Door with Glass
Our new farmhouse front door is 36 by 80 inches.
Color of Farmhouse Front Door with Glass
It took us a little while to decide on what color to paint our farmhouse front door.
We decided to wait until after we had our white siding completely done before committing to a color.
The colors we were deciding between were white, red & black.
For a while, we were thinking we might keep it white but after all the white siding was added, we knew we needed to add a pop of color to the front entrance & painted it the same shade of red as our windows.

The red paint of our farmhouse front door is Sherwin Williams Rustic Red (7593).
The type of paint is an Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel with an Ultradeep Base in Satin.
Farmhouse Front Door Exterior Lights
We really wanted to brighten up the entrance of our farmhouse at night.
With the former sidelight window taken out, we chose to add 3 light glass lanterns on either side of our farmhouse front entry door.

I found the lights on sale at Wayfair & think the oil rubbed bronze finish really ties in with our new dark roof & gutters.
We love the look of these exterior seeded glass lanterns & wish they had smaller versions for our garage lights.
Farmhouse Front Door Handle Hardware
The entry door handle set is from Amazon and was incredibly inexpensive.

The Venetian bronxe of the door handle & locks match the lights, roof & gutters well.
Farmhouse Front Door with Planters
We moved our front porch planters back to flank our new farmhouse front door.
The planters help draw your eye to the farmhouse entry door & the green boxwoods add some color & life to our new white board and batten vertical siding.

Moving the planters back to the farmhouse front door also makes our front porch feel much larger from the driveway!
We are still trying to decide whether or not to bring back our front porch pallet sign.

I am currently on the hunt for a new front porch mat & a smaller bench to go on the left side of the front entry door as our rockers feel a bit crowded with the 2 planters.
I would love to find something similar to our former red entry bench that can survive being outside & is a little more comfortable to sit on.
While we are still not entirely finished with all the DIY exterior house projects like adding some more white trim to our front porch pergola, I can not wait to share our farmhouse’s total transformation with you all soon!

If you are looking for the perfect farmhouse front door with glass, I hope this inspires you with some ideas for your home!
