When our daughter, Audrey was away at overnight camp this summer we surprised her with a completely transformed bedroom to come home to. Lately, she had been asking us for more grown up girl’s room with a bookcase, new carpet & no more pink! Thankfully, this girl’s bedroom makeover did not disappoint & she was pleased as punch when she returned.

Over the years, we had been slowly making changes to our daughter’s bedroom.

First, painting it pink & adding a bedroom door & later by refinishing a four poster bed (see it here) & farmhouse dressers (here).

However, we never completely finished her bedroom & over time she grew up, her taste changed & she wanted her bedroom to reflect that. Someone grab the box of tissues!!! Side note… it is hard watching your kids grow up.
No more pink was one of the most important things on her list.
So we said goodbye to her pale pink walls & painted them the same grey we used in our kitchen (here), Sherwin Williams Crushed Ice.

We even painted her ceiling & I spray painted her recessed lights & registers. (you can read how to spray paint lights here)

Jason, replaced the old tired carpet with soft in stock carpet from Home Depot.

He even learned how to seam carpet in the process. Moose was def impressed!

Jason built her a tall built in bookcase next to her bed & we painted it white. We built her bookcase exactly like the bookcase we made in Tucker’s room (you can see that here)

The little girl who could not read when we moved in now has a bookcase to hold all of her chapter books.

Although, we loved her four poster bed we decided to get her a new white iron one that would take up less floor space & give her more natural light from her windows. We loved her four poster bed so much that we are saving it to hopefully use in the future!

I kept her bed coverings mostly white except I snuck in a floral comforter (with some pink in it 🙂 & matching pillow cover from Home Goods.

I also gave her my old large dresser so she had more room for her clothes.

We made over her thrift shop desk & a new nightstand with some white paint & new knobs (blog post to come).

We even updated her bathroom too!

We were very thankful when she came home from camp & was so excited about how her room turned out!

What a lovely transformation Tara! The room looks all grown up now and yes I absolutely agree that they do grow up way too fast.
Thank you so much for stopping by to see our girl’s bedroom makeover Mary! It really is hard watching them grow up 🙂
I love too see all the projects that you are doing all the time. It gets me thinking of how I can make my house and garden look better and give it street appeal. So I go into my woodworking shed, have a look on pinterest and off I go. Takes me longer these days as I’m 64 and have a lot of health problems but I’m not letting it stop me. Look forward to seeing your next project.

The bedroom looks stunning now! It definitely looks more grown-up and showcases your daughter’s personality. The bedding is beautiful, but I’m really in love with the heart book shaped wreath. So innovative and creative! The power is in the details for sure.
