In Audrey’s room, I spray painted a $35 desk I found at the thrift store & a nightstand that had previously been in Ben’s room.
5 Tips for How to Spray Paint Furniture like a Pro
Tip ONE – Prep the Furniture to Spray Paint
Take your furniture pieces outside & lay down a drop cloth.
For the desk, I took off the old hardware & filled in all the holes with wood putty.
Tip TWO – Sanding Down the Furniture to Spray Paint
After you fill in any holes for the wooden furniture you want to spray paint sand down your furniture making sure there are not rough spots or peeling paint (if the piece has been painted before).
Tip THREE – Use Quality Spray Paint for your Spray Painted Furniture
We spray painted the desk & nightstand with Rust- Oleum spray paint.
It is a classic Linen white color paint.
Below, is the link to the paint we used,
Rust-Oleum 302591 Chalked Spray Paint, 12 oz, Linen White/WhiteWhen spray painting furniture make sure to move the can of spray paint evenly across the surface of the piece you are painting.
The beauty of spray paint is that you can always go back & add more coats to make the furniture look more professional!
Tip FOUR – Add More than One Coat of Spray Paint & a Clear Coat Finish
After 2 coats of spray paint we added a clear coat finish making sure to sand down the wood furniture in between coats of spray paint.

Tip FIVE – Change out Your Furniture Hardware for an Updated Look
I found these glass knobs on Amazon & liked them so much we added them to her farmhouse dresser as well.

We even added the glass knobs to Audrey’s newly painted desk.
They add just the right amount of glam to this girl’s farmhouse bedroom!
We paired her desk with an upholstered chair from PB kids. Unfortunately, her desk chair is no longer available but looks very similar to this tufted desk chair from PB Teen.
We could not be happier with how her room & newly refinished desk, nightstand turned out.
