Shells have fantastic color and texture & when I look at them I can’t help but smile.
Shells bring back wonderful summer memories for me.
I have a bunch scattered throughout my living & family room along with the rest of our farmhouse.
In a dough bowl in our family room & baskets in our living room.
I even added a seashell to the DIY – Pallet Wreath we made for a summer mantel.
Ever wonder how else you might show off all those shells that you picked up on the beach? I put some of the shells and sand left over from our trip in an old blue ball jar on labeled it 2014 & placed it on our fireplace mantel!
Shells make fantastic wreaths! I have made 2 now one just for clam shells and one with a mix of different shells.
The one was made using a lot of the shells I collected while in Emerald Isle a few weeks ago.
I’m always thinking of different wreaths I can make…even my kids are starting to notice 🙂
For this wreath I used many different kinds of shells. I even used a few broken ones, it adds so much interest!
If you want you make your own shell wreath click here to see the post where I show you step by step on how to make one. Above is the Clam shell wreath I have hanging in my dining room:
I love the look of our clamshell wreath against my dark brown walls in our dining room.
I even added a few to my dining room hutch.
One of the best things about decorating with shells is that they are free!!! You don’t need to put them away after the summer is over.
In my opinion they look great year round.
