Step by Step Instructions for How to Make a DIY Mushroom Log Cloche for FREE
Step ONE – Find the Perfect Mushroom Log
We are fortunate to have lots of decaying logs & mushrooms on our property.
Mushroom logs are not hard to find out & about at your favorite walking trail or park.
Just bring your favorite hand saw if it looks too big to pick up & carry!
Measure your glass cloche beforehand so you know what size mushroom log you need.
It’s better to find one a larger one that you can cut down later than one that is too small for your glass cloche.
If you are having trouble finding a log with mushrooms on it for free, Amazon has a lot of options,
Step TWO – Cut your Mushroom Log to Size
Using Jason’s chop saw I cut the log in half so it would fit inside my glass cloche.
It took quite a few cuts around the log till I was able to cut the log completely.
I chose the log that had mushrooms on the top.
Because I have no idea how to completely make the mushroom log bug free without in some way harming the mushrooms I decided to put it under a glass cloche.
Step THREE – Add your Log under Glass to Decorate your Home with
That way any little critters that might be present on the log have no chance of escape!
Any bugs are living inside of the log they are stuck inside of the glass.
Decorating with glass in my opinion, makes everything that much prettier.
I placed the mushroom log cloche on a white dinner plate & covered it with the glass.
It now sits on our entryway table next to our front door.
An unexpected reminder of spring, fall or winter!
What do you think of decorating with mushrooms?
The color & the texture of the mushrooms & the log are so beautiful.
I have my own personal mushroom garden in our home that does not require any care!
Which is perfect for a busy family like ours.
I hope this inspires you to create a mushroom log cloche to decorate your home with!

I love that Tara! How clever…think you’ve just unearthed (get it?) a new design trend. I’m curious if the mushrooms will continue to grow under the cloche? Hmmm…I’d love to know.
Keep the creative good stuff coming.
Hugs, Lynn
Ha, Thank you so much Lynn! I will keep you posted if the mushrooms continue to grow, I hope so but really have no idea :).
Very clever idea Tara! I couldn’t agree with you more with decorating with glass. Thank you for the inspiration.
