Hi everyone! It’s the last Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for the Create & Share Challenge hosted by Stephanie from Casa Watkins & Cat from Pocketful of Posies. This month’s challenge is called LAMP-ALOOZA, where we all created a project either making a lamp or making over one. For my project I created a DIY Hanging light for the closet in our master bedroom.
I was so excited when it was decided we were doing a lamp project because I had already bought a lamp kit from Ikea and have been without a light in my master bedroom closet since we built them over a year ago. It is not fun searching for clothes in the dark :). Btw, I did not receive any compensation from Ikea I just really like their products and prices.
My DIY hanging light is super simple to install using the lighting kits from Ikea. You simply just add the kit to the shade.
After hanging it up with the plain shade I knew I wanted to make the shade a little more unique.
So I glammed up the shade by adding a green ribbon to the top and bottom of the shade with a little glue from my glue gun.
For the finishing touch on the shade I broke out my giant button collection and used a whooping 3 buttons on my lamp shade :).
I know, I am living on the edge. The button and ribbon remind me of a pretty top or dress, perfect for a closet!!!
I love having some light to see my clothes now!!! And the best part is that it only took a few minutes to make.
We also added a plug in switch to the DIY hanging light so I had the ability to use a switch to turn the light on and off. I hung it on my shoe cubby with a velcro command strip.
Thanks so much for checking out my new closet light! Don’t forget to pin my DIY – Hanging Light for my Closet!
