Beautiful Summer Mantel Decor Ideas with Greenery & Farmhouse Style

Decorating a fireplace mantel in the summer can be tricky, today I am sharing all the details of how to decorate a gorgeous summer mantel with greenery & farmhouse style!

Summer is the time of year most of my plants go on holiday to our backyard. 

However, I always bring a few in to add color to my farmhouse fireplace mantel. 

I want my summer mantel to be as colorful, fun and green as the yard outside my window. 

Decorating with greenery can be easy as pie and totally free when it’s found in your home garden.

For my summer mantel this year I did something new.

I said goodbye to our fireplace screen and added greenery to our fireplace instead.

Greenery Inside the Fireplacebox

Of course, my youngest asked why there was a plant in our fireplace, ha! 

I assured him that it would be just fine!

It is so nice to have a little color & interest inside our living room firebox.

Add Color with Ferns

Ferns are my greenery of choice these days. 

They are easy to grow and can be found in abundance at our home in the summertime.

Ferns also do a fantastic job adding color to the big black box under your fireplace mantel.

If you don’t have ferns in your yard or another type of shady perennial you can always find them inexpensively at your local grocery store or nursery. 

I actually dug the fern plant out of our garden just so I could put it inside the fireplace.

I added a few more ferns fronds to an old green mason jar along with my new myrtle topiary, green glass flower mister and flower pot from Terrain.

More greenery & a candle lantern on our hearth and coffee table add even more color and life to our living room.

Summer Mantel with Shells, Birds & Candles

I kept our favorite DIY Pallet Wreath to hang over the fireplace mantel.

It truly looks fabulous & centers our living room fireplace mantel year round!

To finish off my summer mantel, I added a few more of my favorite things that remind me of what I love about summertime like shells, birds in the form of an Audubon print, a bird’s nest and candles.

This might be my favorite summer mantel to date.
