There is something magical about summer gardens at night!
I have always wanted to have a night time summer garden party.
When I was contacted by Balsam Hill about doing a sponsored post for them called “Light Up the Night” I immediately said yes!
Deck Lights Before
We haven’t really had a chance to have people over at night yet because we don’t have any outside lights on our deck other than a motion spot light.
Believe me waving my hand every couple minutes to turn back on the lights gets OLD after a little while.
Fairy Lights Under a Cloche & Lighted Boxwood Wreath for a Summer Garden Party Table Centerpiece
I added the 2 strands of the fairy string lights under my glass cloche & added it to the top of one of the square boxwood wreaths.
The best thing about these 2 pieces is that they are battery powered so no ugly extension cords required & I can move them anywhere around my house.
Those little fairy string lights really pack a punch & I was surprised how much light they brought to our backyard farmhouse table.
One really nice thing about fairy string lights is that the wire of the strand is a little stiff so you can bend & shape it & it stays in place.
Lit Boxwood Wreath over Beverage Station for a Summer Garden Party
I added a 2nd lit boxwood wreath over our enamel top table that I found curbside a few years ago.
It brings just the right amount of light to our little beverage table.
Beverage Station with Premixed Drinks in Mason Jars for a Summer garden Party
I brought out some drinks I had already mixed up & poured in small Mason jars & added them to a basket of ice to keep them cold.
Clear Mason Jars with Tealights to Light Up the Summer Garden Party Stairs & Trees
I also brought out some more clear mason jars that I added small tea lights to for my summer garden party.
I even hung 3 mason jar lanterns on the large spruce tree we have just off our deck. (see the DIY Here)
All the different lights truly made our backyard deck & summer garden party glow.
I brought out some wine and cheese and invited a few girlfriends over and we had a great night catching up at my summer garden party.
I can’t wait to light up our deck again for another summer garden party.
The boxwood wreaths and fairy string lights are fantastic and I plan on using them all year round to decorate our farmhouse.
Thanks again to Balsam Hill for sponsoring this post and providing me with 2 square boxwood wreaths & 2 strands of long fairy string lights…. unfortunately they are no longer available but I hope this will give you a few ideas for how to light up your next summer garden party!

Your back yard with the lights looks so festive, my favorite thing to do is decorate my back yard with lights. You are ready for the holidays. I can’t believe its coming around the corner. Hugs Maria
Hi Maria! I know all this hot weather is making me long for cooler days :). Although, I do love the relaxed feel of the summer!!! Have a great weekend and take care, Tara
Very pretty. If you do have an outlet out there, have you thought of stringing Christmas lights around just the trunk of the tree I see there in your picture ? I love them on the trunk of trees and would give you even more light ! Just plug them in when you need them
It’s so funny that you suggested that Linda because my husband and I were just thinking about that but neither of us wanted to go up in the hot attic to find and then string the Christmas lights :). Maybe when the weather cools off! Thank you so much for stopping by!!!
That looks so lovely. I wish I had a space to make something like this. I might need to add a patio out back 😀

Wondering where you got the red linen that’s in many of the shots.
Hi Tina! I found the red linen at Wegmans. I really like the towel. It washes beautifully and never needs to be ironed like so many of my dish towels do. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment!
