Supplies Needed to Plant & Give Paperwhites Christmas Gifts
- Paperwhite or Narcissus Bulbs ( I bought these bulbs from Amazon)
- Flowerpots (Ikea has some for less than $1, ball mason jars, small metal buckets)
- Small stones or pebbles
- Potting soil
- Spanish Moss
- Shipping Gift Tag
- Small Hand Trowel or Shovel
Step by Step Instructions for How To Make Paperwhites Christmas Gifts
Step One – Fill Your Flower Pot
Fill your flower pot or Ball Jar with about an inch of stones.
Place your Paperwhite bulb up in the center of the pot.
Add potting soil to the rest of the flower pot under an inch or 2 from the top.
Add some Spanish moss to the top of the flower pot to make it look pretty :).
Step TWO – Water Your Paperwhite Bulb
Add water to help the bulb grow.
Continue to water your Paperwhite at least once a week checking to see if the soil is dried out.
If the soil is dry, then you need to water.
If the soil is still moist wait a few days before watering.
Step THREE – Wait 3 Weeks for Your Christmas Paperwhites to Bloom
It will take about 3 weeks to force your paperwhite flowers to bloom.
I usually plant mine Thanksgiving weekend so they will be ready in time for Christmas break.
The Paperwhites will bloom for a few more weeks and add a delicious smell to your home & gorgeous Christmas decor!
Lastly I add a gift tag to make the flower gift that much more personal. I hope this inspires you to plant & make a few Paperwhites Christmas gifts!
