Hi guys! Welcome back to week 4 of our Curb Appeal Hop! The birds on top of my porch light flew the coop and we were finally able to change out our front porch light. I am not sure why we waited so long. It was definitely getting old to have a bird fly past our heads everytime someone came in or out or front door :).
This post was sponsored by Lamps Plus and I was provided compensation. However my opinions on porch lights and rocking chairs are 100% my own. For more information you can go here.
Just to recap below is a pick of our old porch light. You can just make out the bird’s nest on top. While I didn’t mind the look of our old light it was dirty, broken and birds loved to make it their home. Not such a welcoming sight by our front door :).
The 2 things I was looking for in our new light was 1) farmhouse style and 2) one that a bird couldn’t add a new nest to. I found this great urban barn light from Lamps Plus and it was perfect for our front porch!
I really like the dark oil rubbed bronze color and how it pops against our siding. I also love the idea that I won’t be cleaning dead bugs out of glass anymore and the price was great. I may have to update the rest of our exterior lights to outdoor lights from Lamps Plus now.
Lamps Plus isn’t just for lights either. They have a huge selection of indoor and outdoor furniture as well. At first I had trouble deciding what would work best for our front porch. We had talked about a bistro set, a porch swing and rocking chairs. We liked the flexibility rocking chairs gave us and we could keep our entryway bench, which I finally repainted.
Rocking chairs just scream farmhouse front porch, don’t they? We now have 2 new white rocking chairs and they are just perfect! We have been having our morning cup of coffee in our new rockers every morning.
There is only one week left of our curb appeal hop. I can’t believe how much different all the little changes made.
Farmhouse Curb Appeal
dig out and move the shrubs that are in bad spots in the front and place in better locations in the yardadd a tree, some evergreens and other small perennials to the fronthide the ugly short wall in the frontadd more comfortable seating to the front porchpaint the entryway benchchange out the front light to one that isn’t as bird friendly and has more of a farmhouse feel- add more potted plants and porch decor
- time permitting extend the front entrance by adding a pergola
