New Farmhouse Barn Front Porch Light & Rockers (Curb Appeal Ideas Week 4)

The birds on top of my porch light flew the coop & we were finally able to change out our front porch light!  

I am not sure why we waited so long.  It was definitely getting old to have a bird fly past our heads every time someone came in or out of our farmhouse front door.

Front Porch Light Before

Just to recap below is a pick of our old porch light. 

You can just make out the bird’s nest on top. 

While I didn’t mind the look of our old light it was dirty, broken and birds loved to make it their home. 

Not such a welcoming sight by our front door!

2 Things to Look For in a New Farmhouse Front Porch Light?

The 2 things I was looking for in our new light was #1 farmhouse style.

#2, a front porch light that a bird couldn’t add a new nest to, ha!

I found this great urban barn light from Lamps Plus & it was perfect for our farmhouse front porch!

I really like the dark oil rubbed bronze color & how it pops against our tan siding. 

It looks like an old barn light which is perfect for a farmhouse like ours.

I also love the idea that I won’t be cleaning dead bugs out of glass anymore and the price was great. 

I may have to update the rest of our exterior lights to outdoor lights from Lamps Plus now.

Farmhouse Front Porch Seating

At first I had trouble deciding what would work best for our farmhouse front porch. 

We had talked about a bistro set, a porch swing and rocking chairs. 

We liked the flexibility rocking chairs gave us and we could keep our entryway bench, which I finally repainted.

Rocking chairs just scream farmhouse front porch, don’t they? 

We now have 2 new white rocking chairs & they are just perfect for our farmhouse front porch! 

We have been having our morning cup of coffee in our new rockers every morning.

There is only one week left of our curb appeal ideas hop. 

I can’t believe how much different all the little changes made.

Farmhouse Front Porch Curb Appeal

• dig out and move the shrubs that are in bad spots in the front and place in better locations in the yard
• add a tree, some evergreens and other small perennials to the front
• hide the ugly short wall in the front
• add more comfortable seating to the front porch
• paint the entryway bench
• change out the front light to one that isn’t as bird friendly and has more of a farmhouse feel
• add more potted plants and porch decor
• time permitting extend the front entrance by adding a pergola
