I am happy to announce we are more than halfway through our kitchen remodel and we have a new kitchen island, woo hoo! Some of these pictures are not “Pinterest” or “Instagram” worthy and I plan on doing individual posts about every DIY project but I am so excited with how our farmhouse kitchen is turning out that I just had to share!
Kitchen Renovation Progress – Kitchen Island

Our family has been BUSY at work on our kitchen.
We tore down the wall between the kitchen and our dining room, took down a combination of plaster and drywall ceilings, added a new bead board ceiling, took down upper cabinets and moved other cabinets and added a gorgeous kitchen island. Phew… I am tired just thinking about it :).
We were so lucky to find this beautiful kitchen island (see how excited Moose is, ha!) for half off at our local Williams & Sonoma store which is unfortunately now closed.
I am convinced we could not have made a kitchen island more perfect than this one for our kitchen and dining room. The picture above was taken before the dining room was down… can you believe the difference?!!!
It really ties these 2 rooms together and makes our kitchen and dining room feel much larger.
I love that it gives me more storage as well as allow for more seating options! I can’t wait to find 2 or 3 bar stools to go with it.
The 4 drawers, shelves and double door cabinet are already filled with everything from my former dining hutch and former kitchen shelves.
The carrara marble top is beautiful and I am excited for us to order more carrara marble for the rest of our countertops.
This week we plan on finishing up the moldings on the ceilings as well as the beams.
I will share more plans of our farmhouse kitchen as we continue to work on it!
