Summer is the time of year when my garden is at it’s absolute best!
The trees are covered with thick green leaves, our grass is cut short for the kiddos to run barefooted through, our porches and patios are full of cozy spots to watch the sun rise and sunset, and the summer garden of flowers and vegetables get bigger and more colorful everyday.
Since moving into our 1800’s farmhouse in the suburbs over 4 years ago we have been hard at work making this once neglected and overgrown yard our own.
Summer Front Porch
Last year, we made a lot of curb appeal changes to the front of our farmhouse with landscaping and curb appeal.
Our front porch is definitely one of my favorite spots to sit and watch my kiddos playing in our front yard.
The summer garden of hydrangeas are just starting to wake up and show off their gorgeous blooms.
Front Yard Summer Garden
Our front summer garden also has lots of daylilies, evergreens, clematis, ornamental grass and the prettiest southern magnolia you ever saw! 🙂
Summer Driveway Garden
Our long driveway is covered in Annabelle hydrangeas and tall Maple trees.
See my tips for getting the most blooms out of your hydrangeas HERE
Summer Vegetable Garden
This was the first year we planted a vegetable garden and EVERYONE in our family is excited about it.
See the DIY for how to make your own tire swing HERE
The kids still try to beat each other down to the veggie beds to check on the strawberries first. (see how to start your own strawberry patch HERE)
I wish they were equally excited about the broccoli and Brussel sprouts but I will take what I can get, ha!
Stone Walkway Summer Garden
The side of our stone walkway garden is really filling in with lots and lots of gorgeous summer blooms.
This garden was originally a dumping spot for the two truckloads of plants I brought with me when we moved in and despite having no garden plan…
However, it’s quickly become one of my favorite garden spots in our yard.
From the oakleaf hydrangeas to the roses, Hosta & sedum.
Garden Arbor & Summer Patio
My new garden arbor really sets the stage for our new backyard patio.
We have been spending as much time as possible on our new patio and we LOVE our new outdoor room.
If you missed the reveal of our backyard patio makeover you can check more pictures out here.
Thanks so much for taking the time to spot by and check out our summer garden!
I hope this gives you lots of summer gardening ideas for your outdoor spaces.
