I was definitely on the fence whether or not to share a fall home tour with you guys this year. As far as the blogging world goes, I should have had my home fall ready 3 months ago!
I needed to take a break from home decorating and blogging for a little while as home renovations (the Kitchen & dining room), kid and husband craziness, as well as the loss of a dear friend to cancer made sharing “happy pinterest worthy” pictures of our home impossible. There were many, many moments this Summer & Early Fall when I believed that I had to have it all together or have new & amazing ideas before sharing anything with you guys!
Then I was reminded that no home is perfect and God has truly blessed me with a love of home decorating and a desire to help others make their houses feel like home. He has given me a voice and ability to share these ideas with so many of you whether online through this blog or in real life at your own houses!
The beauty of fall in our homes can be sweet reminders to all of us that God is an AMAZING creator who loves color! How awesome is it that you can find pumpkins and gourds of so many shapes and sizes. Trees of so many different colors.
So today I wanted to share some my favorite simple, quick and inexpensive fall decorating ideas from our farmhouse.
It’s All About Fall Colors & Lots of Pumpkins
Our driveway is covered in so many gorgeous Fall colors. From green, red and purple to yellow and orange.
Orange is not normally a color I gravitate towards but you can find it everywhere in the Fall and I embraced it a little more this year.
From the Orange Jack-O-lanterns my kids carved on our stone wall to the colors of the leaves on so many of my fall wreaths.
If you have time for nothing else, a pumpkin and a Fall wreath hung on your front door look so welcoming and beautiful in the fall.
As you step inside our farmhouse you can see the color orange continued into our family room…
From the giant wreath hung on our picture window to an orange pumpkin candle on our mantel and the warm glow of the fire burning inside fireplace.
As you can see Moose is REALLY enjoying our new wood stove!
In the living room, I added white pumpkin fall wreath above our fireplace along with a few handmade fall crafts from year’s past.
Like velvet acorns…
and velvet pumpkins.
My kids are also really enjoy the chemistry flash cards we bought Bennett for his birthday.
Back to school items can totally be used as fall decor. And bonus, they are educational too!!!
A few pretty and REAL pumpkins placed around your home can look beautiful in the fall.
If you don’t have a local farm near you Trader Joe’s always has a great and inexpensive assortment of gourds and pumpkins.
You can reuse all of these pumpkins for a Thanksgiving table like I did below. (you can read more about that here)
And this Thanksgiving table from last year… (read about it here)
Free flowers from the garden are always a good idea, especially in the dining room.
I added these daisies from our garden to the DIY wooden tool box we made last year.
Lastly a few more real pumpkins on our kitchen island and bay window really make a pretty fall statement.
Hands down my favorite way to display real pumpkins is under a glass cloche!
I can hardly believe how different our farmhouse looks compared to last years autumn tour!
I hope this will inspire you to add little glimpses of Autumn to your homes even if you haven’t gotten to your fall decorating yet. You are in good company 🙂
