The best part is that this canned peaches recipe makes canned peaches & homemade peach juice. What could be better than 2 recipes in 1!

Canned Peaches in Peach Juice Recipe

Makes 3-4 Quart Size Jars (2 Jars of Canned Peaches & 1-2 Jars of Homemade Peach Juice)
We truly had a bumper crop of peaches this year from our home orchard.
After making a year’s worth of peach jam, I needed to do something with the rest of our peaches.
I created this easy recipe for canned peaches in peach recipe so that we would have canned peaches along with my kids & their friends FAVORITE, homemade peach juice.
Ingredients & Supplies Needed to Make Canned Peaches in Juice
Ingredients needed to Prevent Peaches from Browning
- 7 cups Peaches (sliced, Pitted & Pealed)
- 4 Cups Water
- 1/4 cup of Lemon Juice
Ingredients needed for Canned Peaches & Juice
Peaches from above treated for Browning along with…
- 1 cup Sugar
- 2 More Cups of Water
- 1 Tablespoon of rum (optional for Adults)
- Canning Supplies (canner, jars & lids)
Step by Step Instructions for How to Make Canned Peaches in Peach Juice
Step ONE – Prepare your canner, jars & lids
Start boiling water in your canner & boil your canning jars & lids.
Step TWO – Peel, Pit & Slice Peaches
Drop your peaches in boiling water for 30 seconds & drop them in a bowl of ice water.
The peach peels will come over effortlessly. Toss the peach peels & pits & slice the peaches.
Step THREE – Prepare Your Peaches from Browning
Fill a bowl with 4 cups of water & 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Add 7 cups of sliced peaches to your lemon juice & water mixture.
Step FOUR – Prepare the Canned Peaches in Juice for Canning
Boil 2 cups of water with 1 cup of sugar in a medium to large saucepan until sugar dissolves.
Add your sliced peaches & lemon juice/ water mixture to the sugar/ water combo.
Boil for 5 minutes, Stirring Constantly.
Step FIVE – Add Canned Peaches in Juice to Canning Jars
Using a slotted spoon, add cooked peaches to your canning jars first leaving at least a 1/2 inch of space at the top of the canning jar.
Add a small amount of hot peach juice to the peaches in the jar still leaving 1/2 inch of space at the top.
(Optional Recipe For Adults… you can also add 1 tablespoon of rum to your canning jar if you want to make your canned peaches a little more exciting)
Once all the peaches are in jars, start adding the homemade peach juice syrup to canning jars.
Step SIX – Can your Canned Peaches in Juice
Remove any air bubbles with a knife & wipe down your rim.
Add your canning lid to the jar & screw on your band.
Place your jars of canned peaches in juice into your canner making sure that the tops are covered in boiling water for 20 minutes.
Remove your jars of canned peaches in peach juice to cool & store or ENJOY!
Our kids definitely favor the homemade peach juice & it barely lasts a month after canning. The canned peaches maybe last a week or two longer.
I have heard that homemade peach juice is a great home remedy for sore throats but I hope to give it a try this year.
