Christmas Home Tour – 2015

Christmas Home Tour 2015

Hi Everyone!  I am so excited to share my Christmas Home Tour with you today!!! Before I ever started blogging I would look forward to seeing how everyone decorated their home for Christmas whether online or in magazines.  This year, I have the privilege to share my tour with a large group of incredibly talented bloggers. For those of you coming from Our House now a Home I am so glad to have you.  A big thanks to Sharon from a Pretty Practical Home for bringing us all together for a Holiday Home Tour Blog Hop:).  I am also sharing my Christmas Home Tour with Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday House Walk Party again this year!!!  Her Holiday Housewalk is a must see for Christmas Inspiration:).

If this is your first time here, Welcome to our home!   I’m Tara, a stay at home mom of four kids and a crazy labradoodle named Moose.  For the past 2 and 1/2 years my handy husband and I have been slowly fixing up our hundred year old farmhouse in PA.  For my Christmas decorating this year I really tried to keep my decorating simple :).  Most of my Christmas decorations have either been made or handed down to me which makes them that much more personal and special.  I also love to use nature and the outdoors in my decorating because it’s free and, in my opinion, God truly is the best decorator.  It is my hope that this tour will inspire your holiday decorating and prove that you don’t have to spend much money to make your house Christmas ready :-)!!!

Thank you so much for spending the time to check out our home.  Don’t forget to check out Erica’s rustic glam Christmas tour at Designing Vibes it is just stunning!!!  Before you pop over to see what my amazing friends created I would like to say that the true joy of Christmas decorating for our family isn’t about pretty homes or decorations, presents under the tree, or even Santa.  It’s the remembrance of Jesus Christ’s birth.  Over 2,000 years ago God loved us much that He sent His Son to earth to save Us.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

Merry Christmas!

  1. I love it all! I especially love that your home is decorated beautifully but not over done. Your fireplace mantel is so pretty and I love the view through the passageway. 🙂

  2. Tara what beautiful decorating this is. Your home is warm and inviting without being over done. You are a tasteful decorator. And the whole house is so kid friendly full of special little touches placed throughout. I know you’ll enjoy the holiday season in your beautiful home. (And don’t get me started on those gorgous floors which are so full of warmth!!)

  3. Tara, your home is beautiful decorated for Christmas and I swoon every time I see those beams in your kitchen. I could live in your bedroom. Everything is so cozy looking. Fabulous job!

    1. Kim, I am honoured you stopped by to check out my Christmas tour! I appreciate your sweet comments so much. Have a wonderful rest of your week and take care, Tara

  4. Tara, I know that I’ve said this before, but your house is so beautiful!
Y’all have done such amaking work and I LOVE how your home is decorated like a real house for Christmas! It’s the kind that you want to go spend the holidays in with your family, so lovely and cozy. Seriously, if you put it on the market, I would buy it! Beautiful job!
BTW, your greeting picture is adorable and was a great idea 😉

    1. Wow Karen, thank you! I appreciate your comments so much. That is my hope for our house, that it would be cozy and welcoming and that our family and friends will want to come and visit:). Thanks for the comment about my greeting picture. I was definitely on the fence about putting it in:). Can’t wait to see your holiday tour on Friday!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments about my Christmas tour Amy! Have a wonderful rest of your week and take care, Tara

    1. Ha Thanks Christine! I do love to decorate for Christmas so I am always up to help:). I hope you are having a wonderful week and take care, Tara

  5. Hi — I agree with everyone – all your decorating is beautiful; more so because it’s filled with love and handed-down items or things you’ve made. However, what I noticed from the get-go is how clean and fresh your home looks when you’ve got 4 children and a huge dog! How in the world do you do it? Even if you cleaned it up just for the photos, it’s much more than that. This is a well-taken-care-of home and I’m amazed – none of my friends with children have homes this put-together. Kudos for that alone and tons of appreciation for a Christmas tour filled with your spirit!!!!

    Happy Holidays – MMR

    1. Hi Margaret, your comments about my home are incredibly sweet and I appreciate them so very much. I will share a secret with you, my sink was full of dirty dishes when I took pictures of the kitchen:). I have been de-cluttering here like crazy the last few months which has been a huge help to keep my house in order. Less stuff, less to pick up! Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful Holiday Season and take care, Tara

  6. Tara, I’ve always thought your home was lovely, but it’s especially so at Christmas. You’ve done a wonderful job on the decorating and it’s so nice to hear someone else say that they keep decorating simple. Me, too! This was a wonderful tour, and I’m sure you and your family are now enjoying your efforts!

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comments Sharon! Decorating for me isn’t fun if it’s too complicated or takes too much time:). I finished my decorating much earlier this year than ever before and it feels great to be mostly done! I can’t wait to check out your holiday tour! Take care, Tara

  7. Gorgeous! Love all the wreaths, especially the book ages one. I have been looking for one to hang in front of a huge mirror and so far that has been my favorite. I love also the sign above the mantel. Merry Christmas!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments Tiffany! Wreaths really are a great way to decorate:). Have a great rest of your weekend and take care, Tara

  8. You are so cute! Love the apron pic. Your house looks so cozy, like the perfect getaway for the holidays. Love the bits of plaid and evergreen mixed in. Gorgeous home.

    1. Thanks so much Kathy! Our farmhouse has been a labour of love but we are very thankful for it:). Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and take care, Tara

  9. Hi Tara, first time to your blog. Your home is stunning! Love old homes. So much character. And absolutely love anyone who has a dog that not only needs the sofa but a pillow as well! 🙂 Verse at the end is perfection. Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by Gwen! I completely agree old homes really are the best:). Our dog really is very spoiled but we considered him part of the family:). Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and Merry Christmas! Tara

  10. OH. MY. GOD. I am lusting after everything in your house right now. Your bright, antique-filled rooms are perfection and I just love how you’ve decorated so gorgeously for Christmas using so many natural elements. Simply lovely!

  11. Wow Tara….those fireplaces! And the floors in the living room…are those original? I think my favorite parts of the decor are your tree and the wreaths on the windows. I love that look! So fitting for a farmhouse too!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by Rose! The floors in the living room we put in by a previous owner but our dining room fireplace has been here over one hundred years:). Have a wonderful week and take care, Tara

  12. Tara… Your home is EXACTLY what I hope ours turns out to be once we are settled! It’s BREATHTAKING! Over all these hops we have been doing, i’m always drawn to your stuff first…. we are two peas girl! So glad you participated in this Home Tour, it was an honor to be surrounded by so many amazing bloggers! Pinned! xo

  13. Just took your Christmas tour; your home is so nice. So very warm & inviting. The dining room really caught my eye; love the black walls. Thanks for sharing your home. Wishing you and your family a wonderful, happy & healthy new year.

  14. Tara,
Your home is beautiful and so welcoming. It could be used as a movie set for one of Meryl Streep’s movies.
Have you ever thought of a butler’s pantry between the kitchen and the dining room? I can just see your beautiful collections displayed behind glass front cabinets.
    Thanks for such great posts!
    Mechelle

    1. Thank you for your incredibly sweet comments about my home Mechelle! It’s so funny that you would mention a butler’s pantry because I have been trying to talk my husband into opening up the former doorway in our dining room which leads into our laundry room to make one:). So, I love that idea:). Thanks for stopping by and take care, Tara
