Boys Bathroom Progress – ORC – Week 4

Boys Bathroom Kohler Tub and White Subway Tile

Hi everyone!  I was hoping to share A LOT more with you today but the truth is I don’t have much to share so I will just share our bathroom progress.  Most of you know that my husband has been sick the last few weeks so we are definitely behind.  While I come up with most of these crazy DIY ideas I need his help and experience to finish them :).  We spent most of the weekend working on our boys bathroom but today the room is a total mess!  Yikes!!!

Boys Bathroom - ORC week 4 paint colors

Believe or not we are still deciding on paint colors.  First we wanted to paint the bathroom hale navy like in the boys bedrooms, then we wanted to try gray but quickly decided against the gray.  So now we are back to Hale navy or maybe a really light gray… we have to decide by Saturday when we start adding vinyl bead board to the walls like we did on the ceiling. Geez, nothing like quick decision making :).

Kohler Brockway Sink - Boys Bathroom - ORC - week 4

We also hope to hang our beautiful sink from Kohler this weekend as well.  Crossing our fingers we will be done in time!

Boys Bathroom - White Subway Tile and Grout

Lastly, I grouted the bathroom shower walls and while we were thinking about going gray with the grout we changed our minds and went white :).  We also added a stronger fan and light above the shower to the bead board ceiling.

Boys Bathroom - White subway tile and white grout and honeycomb tile

We will still grout the floors gray because well, boys!!!   We also changed the tile and went with an all white honey comb.

Here’s what we still have to do….

  • Gut Bathroom – Take out tub, sink and toilet
  • Replace old tub and add a new cast iron white tub
  • Take down tub surround and drywall surrounding tub
  • Add cement board and white subway tile and new fixtures to tub
  • Take down tub drop ceiling, contact paper & add a vinyl bead board ceiling
  • Add cement board to bathroom floor and retile
  • Paint and add bead board to the bathroom walls and paint the trim white
  • Add a new double wall sink
  • Add a new toilet
  • Add a built in bookshelf for towels and bathroom supplies
  • Make towel hooks and toothbrush storage

Thanks so much to Linda from Calling It Home for hosting this challenge!

  1. Your bathroom is looking great! I love the old-style sink. The subway tile and the tile on the floor are so classic. And I absolutely love bead board! I was looking at the new bathtub I thought I wanted, but it just looks and feels so plastic. I had started wondering about a cast iron tub! Glad I found your blog!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by our boys bathroom remodel Lucille!!! I am in love with our new cast iron bathtub and sink from Kohler! Good luck with your bathtub search and in my opinion, if you don’t mind moving cast iron bathtubs there is no comparison to plastic :). Take care, Tara
