Three days ago I just had it with my powder room. I hated the wallpaper border and the trim color in the room. The toilet paper holder refused to hold the toilet paper roll on it. The brass faucet, towel bar, and loose door brass knob had to go! Don’t even get me started on the red laminate counter…we have it in the master bathroom too….was there a two for one sale that day? And there is no bathroom fan! The bathroom just felt dirty and I couldn’t put up with it any longer.
I had mentioned these things to Jason already but I don’t think they were high on his priority list. To be fair to my loving husband he does have a lot going on:) So one morning after he left work at 7:30 in the morning I started taking down the wallpaper border. Unfortunately whoever put it up knew what they were doing. Four hours later, after lots of scraping and spraying Mrs. Myers cleaning spray and more scraping and spraying this 5 foot by 5 foot room. I was finally done and the bathroom smelled the best it ever had!
I was so excited about the wallpaper being down that I decided I had to paint it next. I was on a roll…except I should have called Jason to tell him what I was doing. It never occurred to me that he might not like the paint color especially since this had been our powder room color for twelve years in two other houses! I had already put pictures up on instagram so there was no turning back now:). So he came home from work and it was done!
Now that the walls were painted the trim looked really dirty. So two coats of white trim paint later and its done. I think the bathroom looks sooo much cleaner and brighter! The next step is to get some new knobs for the cabinets and new toilet paper holder and faucet and hopefully a new counter before too long. I have a feeling I will be painting the walls again soon too:). Anyone have a good neutral color suggestion?;)
I have since finished our powder room!!!
