Supplies Needed to Make a DIY Simple Christmas Wreath

While decorating our dining room for Christmas it occurred to me that I really wanted a new Christmas wreath in this space.

Well, there was no way that I was going to be able to talk Jason into letting me buy one so I took matters into my own hands & decided to make one of my own.

As a side note… there is something about Christmas crafting that helps me get into the Christmas spirit! 🙂

I had 2 faux evergreen wreaths left over from when we took out bi-fold doors in the kitchen so I decided to use one of those to make my simple Christmas wreath.

The problem was it really didn’t look good enough to be the focal point of my dining room mantel.

So, I grabbed some fresh magnolia leaves and red holly berries from our yard to give my wreath more color and help make it look real!

Step by Step Instructions for How to Make a Simple Christmas Wreath

Step ONE – Gather Your Supplies

Gather any fresh or natural greenery you can find to add interest & color to your faux evergreen wreath.

I chose to add Magnolia Leaves, red holly greens & pine cones from my yard.

Step TWO – Start Adding the Live Greenery Starting with the Largest Items First

I started adding the magnolia leaves first until I was all the way around the wreath.

Step THREE – Add the Holly Berries

I left enough of the stems from the magnolia leaves and holly berries to tuck them into the faux wreath so I didn’t have to glue them on.

Step FOUR – Add Pinecones to Your Simple Christmas Wreath

Lastly, I added pinecones left over from another project to my simple Christmas wreath.

I took advantage of the wire branches to wrap them around my pinecones.

You can decide to use aa glue gun for pine cones in the future but fresh Holly berries & magnolia leaves will look better fresh year after year on your Simple Christmas Wreath.

  1. Tara,
I love that you combined both faux and real, at first glance your wreath looks real!!! It is cool, since you won’t have the mess of real pine needles but still have the wreath to enjoy! Great idea! Happy Holidays!

    1. Thanks Janine! I am definitely excited by how my DIY Christmas wreath turned out and look forward to decorating it for years to come 🙂 Merry Christmas!
