Jason and I love to host AND eat good food, who doesn’t right? Every December we host a Christmas dinner party for my family as well as one for our home group friends from church. Everyone dresses up and brings a delicious side dish or dessert while Jason and I provide the main entree :-). It is a lot of fun! It’s the perfect excuse to use all those dining table wedding gifts we register for and only actually use a few times a year. Why is that? Since it’s Christmas time and our house is all decked out for the Christmas holiday (see here) I pull out all the stops when it comes to decorating our dining table.
This year thanks to my girlfriend Katie’s grandmother I have a beautiful white damask tablecloth to fit my table! Woo Hoo!!! Helen if you are reading this:), THANK YOU!!! I have never had a tablecloth long enough to fit our table before or matching napkins!!! It’s awesome! For those of you that know me know that we only have cloth napkins here…. As a mom of four some of you are probably thinking how looney that sounds but in my opinion, you can’t even compare paper napkins to cloth ones and I am already doing laundry anyway…what’s a couple more pieces:).
Anyway back to the table… Over the white tablecloth I kept my new IKEA throw. For the center of the table I have a glass hurricane surrounded by spruce and magnolia greens free from our yard and pine cones I spray painted gold. I just laid the evergreens around the hurricane and they last all December long!!! This centerpiece is so easy, anyone can do it and it looks FABULOUS!
My plates and flatware are from Crate and Barrel. Classic white goes with every holiday. The final touch of my Christmas table is my Crate and Barrel green beaded napkin rings, they are like jewelry for my table:-). I bought these a few years ago after Christmas for $2 each…keep an eye for those after holiday sales. I chose green because it is a good neutral color that works all year round. I love the combo of green and gold at Christmas!!!
I have my new gold Christmas Ball ornament wreath over the fireplace mantle. I paired it with our Jesse tree and my new mercury gold Christmas tree from HomeGoods. Shh… I don’t think Jason figured out that it’s new:-). I hung the star garland I made over the summer in front my new mirror.
I also made some place card name tags with shipping labels and a little glitter. I tied them around everyone’s champagne glasses so we could keep track of whose drink was whose:-), which is very important at any party;-).
We are very thankful for are Home Group friends and it is a fun night to celebrate each other while appreciating the incredible gift that God gave us on Christmas:). For those of you that weren’t there we had fun but Andy and Liz and other former HG members you were dearly missed! 🙂
Here’s some more pictures of the night…
